Solution

I decided to start by using a well-known image steganography tool known as Steghide. It runs in the command line and I just chose the extract option, and did not enter a passphrase.

The flag file contained this data: Y3Rme0ptYmliMVpKdEd3empZZzZPMlljfQ==

That looks very much like a hash to me and so I used my usual online hash decryption tool and ran this hash in it.

Bingo ! Flag found.
